The bulk material can be discharged from an MFS wagon behind the UMH vehicle onto its collecting belt; the belt can be shifted into three different positions so that the material can be used in different ways.

Rear position

If the ballast is discharged into the ballasting system, it will then be used for ballasting the track grid.

Middle position

If the ballast is discharged onto the chute above the ballasting belts, it will then be placed onto the ballasting belt on the corresponding side and used for ballasting an area of up to 6000 mm from the machine axis.

Front position

If the ballast is discharged onto the swivelling belt, this belt can be extended to unload the ballast into material wagons on the adjacent track, or lorries next to the track.

The UMH is equipped with its own energy supply unit ensuring its individual, independent operation.
