AFM 2000

High capacity track finishing machine

The AFM 2000 represents the next step towards optimum treatment of tracks.

This machine incorporates...

  • ballast regulating including sweeping
  • ballast storing and ballast insertion
  • track stabilising
  • track geometry control = track measuring (option)
  • scanning of the ballast bed profile (option)

resulting in a perfectly maintained track ready for high speed and high density traffic.

The AFM 2000 forms together with high capacity tamping machines the most modern concept of track maintenance. All working operations to be carried out for maintenance or renewal are processed with optimised logistics providing maximum output and maximum quality.

This enables the machine user to operate the AFM 2000 even in possessions of approximately 30 minutes effectively, thus reducing the maintenance costs by minimising track access for maintenance. Furthermore durability of the track quality will be increased accordingly, because the machine concept contains all mechanised maintenance procedures (apart from tamping), which can be executed by a track maintenance machine at present. Due to the high capacity working elements on the machine and the large hopper (approx. 10 m³ capacity) the AFM 2000 represents an ideal machine also for renewals requiring robust and powerful plant.

The AFM 2000 in brief

  • Combined ballast regulator and dynamic track stabiliser (DTS) in articulated design with front plough, shoulder ploughs, centre plough, brush box and hopper as well as ballast insertion unit, dynamic track stabilising units, water spraying device, rotating rail fastening brushes and track obstacle control
  • Available options are: the ballast bed profile scanning system, the electric track parameter recorder DAR incl. measuring devices and the system to measure the lateral resistance of the track during stabilisation

The AFM 2000 is designed in compliance with Railway Group Standard GM/RT 2400, issue 2 and all other European Standards relevant to on-track maintenance plant.
