EM-SAT 100 RT
Track survey car for electronic determination of track lifting- and lining values based on fixed points (reference points)

The EM-SAT 100 RT enables high precision, fast and economical track surveying. It consists of the main machine with receiver camera and a removable satellite with transmitter unit. Track occupations for surveying by measuring gangs normally lasting several days are shortened considerably. The costs of surveying using the EM-SAT are reduced to one fifth compared to the manual method.

The EM-SAT 100 RT surveys the actual track geometry fully mechanized using laser reference chords. Furthermore, the EM-SAT is equipped with a laser distance measuring system to record the actual 6-foot distance to the adjacent track, which is essential for obtaining the maximum track slues of the following tamping machines.

Measurements are taken in cyclic action with an average output of 2.5 kph with simultaneous measurement of longitudinal level and alignment of the track. Apart from displacement and lifting values (measuring accuracy < 1 mm), cant and track gauge can be recorded at the same time. After analyzing and evaluation of the recorded data the correction data for the track (lifts & slues) are transferred to the Automatic Guiding Computer ALC fitted on all Plasser & Theurer “RT” tamping machines, which guarantees highest precision and performance of tamping work.

Optionally, the EM-SAT can also be fitted with a ballast bed profile scanner enabling not only to determine the correction data with the EM-SAT, but also the correct ballast bed profile and consequently the amount of ballast required.

The EM-SAT 100 RT is designed in compliance with Railway Group Standard GM/RT 2400, issue 2 and all other European Standards relevant to on-track maintenance plant.
