RM 76 NR
Medium output single screen ballast cleaning machine for working on plain line and S&Cs

The production program of Plasser & Theurer offers the RM 76 NR ballast cleaner as the modern successor of the RM 74 providing a wide variation of innovations, like an excavation chain enabling single line working under many site conditions & locations found on NR infrastructure (optionally also for cleaning S&C layouts), a 3-deck screening unit, a most modern machine control system and finally the option of inserting new ballast during the cleaning process. The machine comprises the experience which has been gained with the RM 95 RT ballast cleaners already in operation on NR infrastructure and other similar machine types in use worldwide.

The machine concept of the ballast cleaner RM 76 NR provides a machine consisting of a vehicle in articulated design. The power trailer ATW in front carries the diesel engine and other accessories of the machine drive as well as the spoil handling conveyor belts. The second part – the excavation and screening vehicle ASW, holds the excavation chain, the lifting and slewing unit, the screening unit, the ballast distribution and new ballast insertion device as well as several material handling conveyor belts. The traction drive and all working drives of the RM 76 NR are executed by hydraulics. The drive system is designed to haul material handling wagons MFS up to a total weight of 1000 t on level track during work.

The RM 76 NR is designed in compliance with Railway Group Standard GM/RT 2400, issue 2 and all other European Standards relevant to on-track maintenance plant.
